Set of Eight Art Deco Dining Chairs by Michel Dufet

Art Deco Dining Chairs

by Michel Dufet

A magnificent set of eight very early Art Deco dining chairs by Michel Dufet, distinguished by their exceptional decorative detailing and beautifully crafted backs. The chairs feature intricate marquetry incorporating exotic woods and silver inlay, including the distinctive design described as ‘Monnaie du Pape’, translating as ‘Money of the Pope’.

Constructed with solid oak and veneered walnut, the chairs have an elegant gondola-style form, complemented by tapered, reeded front legs. The combination of richly figured timber, decorative marquetry and silver inlay gives the set a particularly sophisticated appearance, characteristic of the finest early Art Deco furniture.

The chairs have been fully restored and newly upholstered in leather. The seats are web-sprung and upholstered to provide both comfort and support, while the new leather gives the set a luxurious finish without compromising the character of the original design.

Presented in fantastic condition throughout, this is an exceptional set of eight matching dining chairs with considerable decorative presence.
