Art Deco Cabinet

An exceptional French Art Deco cabinet, strongly attributed to Alfred Porteneuve, dating from the 1930s. The cabinet is beautifully constructed in richly figured Macassar ebony, with the dramatic grain of the timber providing a striking contrast to the deep black ebonised plinth.

The cabinet is topped with its original black and grey marble top, featuring attractive natural black and white veining. The marble has some light scratches consistent with age and use. The doors are fitted with elegant silver-plated escutcheons and fittings, adding a refined decorative detail to the piece.

The cabinet has been fully restored and professionally polished, bringing out the depth and character of the Macassar ebony while retaining its period appearance. The rear is finished with a solid panel, and the interior is fitted with three adjustable-height shelves, providing useful storage.

A particularly impressive example of French Art Deco furniture, combining luxurious materials, strong geometric form and excellent craftsmanship.
