A great little rosewood sideboard designed by Arne Vodder and produced by Sibast in the 1960’s, from solid rosewood and veneer the sideboard has three drawers a sliding door and a door at the end, it has a raised lip at the back stands on turned legs and has very stylish handles typical of Vodder's work. The sideboard has been fully re finished and is in excellent condition throughout. no keys

Danish born Arne Vodder study his craft under the tutelage of Finn Juhl at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen graduating in 1947, the two designers went on to become firm friends and later business partners. Not only a furniture designer, He was also a keen architect and between 1950 – 1970 He collaborated with fellow architect Anton Borg and between them they went on to design many low cost homes as well as furniture, their partnership was considered a real success.

Mid-century modern furniture design reflected these characteristics and introduced more curves, geometric shapes and stylised angles investing in new technologies.  furniture is designed to a high standard and pieces tend to be timeless. During the baby boom era in the late 40s and 50s, architects and designers experimented with new forms that focused on the flow of moving inside and outside. These structures also aimed to create more privacy for homeowners. One of the most prominent features of mid-century modern design furniture is that it is also designed to be multi-purpose and furniture pieces were not restricted to having a single function.
