Designed in 1957 by designer Robert Heritage and manufactured by Archie Shine during the late 1950s and early 60’s, this drum table is a component of the Bridgeford collection that was likely available at Heals during that time. The piece features four drawers all having inset rosewood handles and decorative fluting between them and will comfortably sit six people The table has been fully polished and is in excellent condition throughout
Following the Festival of Britain in 1951, Archie Shine emerged as a premier producer of British mid-century furniture in the early 1950s. In 1957, he collaborated with Robert Heritage as a designer, which significantly boosted their appeal among affluent customers. Numerous furniture lines were crafted in his East London factory and distributed through prestigious retailers such as Harrods and Heals across the UK.
