Art Deco Walnut Partner’s Desk

A substantial and highly practical Art Deco partner’s desk crafted in Walnut, dating to the 1940s. Designed to be used from both sides, this is a confident, well-proportioned piece combining strong architectural form with excellent functionality, ideal for a refined office, study, or statement interior.

The desk features a lighter contrasting top, creating visual definition against the darker Walnut body and enhancing the desk’s clean Art Deco lines. The left pedestal houses three drawers, all lockable , while the right pedestal contains two drawers, one of which is double-depth and fitted with internal filing dividers,  both sides have  a slide for extra space or just a cup of tea. A central drawer sits beneath the writing surface, completing the working side layout.

To the reverse, the desk is fully finished and fitted with two lockable cupboard doors, opening to reveal shelving — allowing the piece to function beautifully as a freestanding centre desk rather than one intended to sit against a wall. Each pedestal stands on four turned feet, giving the desk a grounded yet elegant stance.

The desk is designed to dismantle into three sections, making it practical as well as imposing, and reflecting the thoughtful engineering typical of quality English furniture from this period.

We bought two club chairs from Toby and Katie. The chairs are great and good value, and they were very reliable and organised sellers. However the best thing was that - without being asked - they offered for us to check the condition of the chairs when they were delivered and to take them back if we were not happy. This was incredibly fair. In the end the chairs were exactly as described.
