Anglo-Indian Padauk Chest
A fine Anglo-Indian chest dating from circa 1860, crafted in solid padauk wood and richly decorated with elaborate brass inlay.
The rectangular form is embellished with scrolling floral and foliate brass inlay across the lid and front, complemented by protective brass corner mounts and a side carrying handle. The interior is clean and retains its original candle box. One small section of brass stringing is missing, otherwise the piece remains complete.
Carefully restored while preserving the rich original patina of the wood, it presents in lovely condition throughout and shows authentic signs of age on the underside.
Practical yet decorative, it makes a distinctive addition to a living room, hallway, study or interior scheme.
