A superb French Art Deco cocktail table dating from the 1930s, crafted in richly figured burr yew and featuring an exceptional marquetry inlaid floral panel of remarkable quality.

The table is veneered throughout in beautifully selected burr yew, displaying the distinctive swirling grain, warm honey tones and intricate figuring for which the timber is so highly prized. At the centre of the top is an exquisite marquetry panel depicting a basket of roses, skilfully executed using a variety of contrasting veneers and demonstrating the outstanding craftsmanship associated with the finest French decorative furniture of the period.

Its elegant architectural base is formed from four gracefully curved uprights which rise from a shaped platform plinth, creating a striking sculptural silhouette from every angle. The flowing curves of the supports perfectly complement the warmth and richness of the burr yew veneers, resulting in a piece that is both sophisticated and highly decorative.
