A French Art Nouveau Tray side table produced in France in c1900 by master cabinetmakers Louis Majorelle, using select cuts of timber the frame is solid mahogany with the leg tapering down to a spade end, the top is in Rosewood with Macassar ebony, tulipwood and mother of pearl marquetry inlay and inlay marquetry Majorrelle signature in the corner. The table has been fully polished and in excellent condition throughout however there is a small ring mark to the top surface where it has had a vase standing on the top unfortunately this could not be removed by restorers.

Louis Majorelle 1859- 1926

One of Art Nouveau's most well-known furniture designers was Louis Majorelle, the son of a furniture designer and manufacturer. Prominent in the 1880s for the development of historical revival furniture, it was not until the 1890s that Majorelle began to produce pieces that were aesthetic in nature, with fluid lines, elegant inlays of flowers, and tree branches.and harmonious, custom-made bronze hardware. Majorelle's designs at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle received wide acclaim and became a beacon among companies offering French artistic activity. By 1910, he expanded into locations in Nancy, Paris, Lyon, and Lille to offer consumers a chance to purchase Art Nouveau across France.
