Ercol Furniture was founded by Lucian Ercolani who was born in Tuscany. Italy 1888, he migrated to London in 1898 with his father who was seeking work,
in 1910 he was producing handrails and staircases with Frederick Parker who later became Parker Knoll
He then started teaching evening classes of furniture design and met Edward Gomme and started make furniture for G-Plan
After world war 2 he started Ercol Furniture and was asked by the British Government to make 100,000 low cost Windsor chairs and he continued to make high quality solid Elm Furniture that is still in business today
