English Regency Chinese Export Games Table


A very well preserved English Regency Chinese export games and side table with black lacqure and gold leaf chinoiserie, flip over center to reveal back gammon and chess board, detatcable top with ‘bird cage’ fitting, this games table would have been made in England in around the 1830’s and then shipped to China for the lacqure-work and gilding, this process taking around three years to make.

Chinoisere had become very fashionable at the end of the Georgian period in England making this games table very desirable amongst the wealthy

The table is relatively untouched with small cracks and lacquer losses and repair to foot, it has the original key and very delicate gilded regency Handles
