Fly me to the Moon – A Desk Thats out of this World
This is one of those blogs when I really can’t believe what I'm writing about! As you probably know by now, we at the furniture rooms love a bit of up-cycled chic. Daring to be different and raising the bar when it comes to the loud and outlandish whilst tipping our caps to the extreme.
Well, this time I’m truly stumped! I don’t even know where to begin… This is an amazing bit of furniture and SO begs to be in the mother of all locations. Whether that be a design companies foyer or just an astounding home office...The choice is yours.
But when it comes down to it, this is an icon of the future and anybody brave enough to appreciate its pure talent will understand what it is to own.
I know I’m rambling, so please excuse me but, the simple fact is its not often you get the chance to own a ‘De Havilland 146 Wingtip Desk!’ (Matching Boeing 737 Crews Seat available).
From a historic point of you this piece has been made from the wings of a British built plane, used as a short-haul airliner and is affectionatly known as the ‘Whispering Jet’.
This aside, the desk also has the notoriety of being in a recent episode of Alan Sugar’s ‘The Apprentice’ and although Mr Sugar is renowned for his blunt and forceful nature, I think this piece held its own.
So come and check-out it aerodynamic riveted polished aluminum curves, striking red vents, casters ready for take off and toughened glass top. You'll understand why the matching chair has to strap you in!
