A fine example of a French Desk produced around 1860 in French empire style the desk has seven drawers with different but complimenting handles the lower four being keys and are all lockable, the top has been re leathered using a one piece thick leather hyde and blind and gold tooling to the edges, the desk has highlights of gilding and intricate inlay detailing the desk is completely free standing being polished all round and is slimmer and wider than a standard desk. The desk has had conservative restoration and been polished retaining its colour and patina.
