One Lump or Two?
Looking back through all the pieces of furniture that we choose to keep, I can honestly say that the occasional table is not often on that list. With the advent of time they get mistreated, unloved (used as a surface to stick the occasional paint can when decorating or the proverbial cup a tea, no mats required) and then generally they are sent to retire to the dump when they outlive their beautiful years.
Yet as a usable and functioning item, nests rank up there with the kitchen sink. We may all laugh at the Great Aunt Bertha and her doily obsession, decked on every surface with the carnation and cut glass delights dotted about hither and thither.
But when required, Great Aunt Bertha always has somewhere to pop the ever-full cup and delicate plate of Victoria sponge or Battenberg Mr Kipling specials. Infact, its funny how much the Nests of Tables we all mocked for so many years have now come full circle to sit proudly in our interiors. You could say they are having their second wind and all they need is someone to love them and take them out of retirement.
