A Light with Possibilities
This is a rare day indeed, the sun is shining (a miracle in itself), I’m not wearing fifteen layers and both the showroom doors are open wide. There’s a gentle breeze and the humidity hasn’t reached a level where my hair (a barometer for damp conditions) has morphed into ‘curly Sue’.
I am very aware that we have to savour these conditions, as autumns colourful glow edges swiftly towards us, fading quickly into winters grey shadow.
More than anything it is the light that we miss the most. It lifts my spirit, putting a spring into my step and giving me an excuse to cook paella in my kitchen (a real family favourite).
It is therefore the lighting in our interiors, that we must consider as the days grow darker. When I am putting a scene together the lighting is always the key to its success, and at The Furniture Rooms we offer a varied range in all shapes and styles.
As I sit here writing this, my eyes are being drawn to various lamps around the showroom. There’s the Tiffany Style Lamp in front of my desk, and the Studio Pottery lamps. Or to my left, the Art Deco Envelope bar with the Up-cycled Oil Cooler wall lights.
As props alone they are versatile: The Movie lights on stands, the varied selection of Chrome lamps and the versatile glow from the period Standard lamps all help to create a space that is warm, welcoming and yet functional. Its worth a look as you’ll see, our shop is a light with possibilities!
